Line Schoolhouse
1811-1831/35

The Line Schoolhouse was built on the Goshen-Newport line by both towns. Students from Mill Village (or “the River” as Mill Village was then known) were schooled alongside students from the neighboring Newport farms. After it closed the building was remodeled into the home of the Winter family.

District #5 School
1841-1929

This was the last schoolhouse built by the town, supposedly through the influence of the Gunnison family. The doorway of the school first stood on the southern side, and was later changed to the west end. Double rows of seats, or benches, originally ran down the length of each wall with the girls sitting on one side and the boys on the other.

School No. 5 today – The rear part of the building is a modern addition.

North Goshen School
1802-1908

It is thought that a school building was located here before the official 1802 date and used for Town Meetings. It was located across the Province Road from the North Goshen cemetery.
